Qualifications required to become a Chartered Accountant

Firstly, understand that CA study isn’t the same thing as an MBA. Even a 10th or 12th pass student can seek his luck here. Of course, post-graduation courses are available, but each have own qualification criterion.
The basic qualifications to begin with-
·         Essentially you need to pass your 10+2 examination.
·         You need common Proficiency Test or CPT clearance.
·         Post-graduates and graduates need to secure a minimum of 55% marks in commerce field with Auditing, Accounting and Mercantile Laws as the three essential papers.
·         If you a graduate from the non-commerce field, you need a minimum aggregate of 60%.

CA courses through CPT

CPT is definitely the most popular route leading to CA courses. To get a CPT clearance, one needs to first get enrollment in Common Proficiency Course or CPC under ICAI. You can join this course the most you have completed 10th test.

The best way is to get your clearance after course completion, which is alongside your 10+2 board examination.
Once you clear CPT you are left with 3 choices to join a CA course-
i.              10th pass CA courses
ii.            12th pass CA Course
iii.           Post-graduation CA Courses

CA course is essentially a combination of 4 linked courses-
1.    Common Proficiency Test
2.    Intermediate Integrated Professional Competence Course
3.    Accounting Technician Course
4.    Final Course of reporting
CA course in India lasts for 3½ years in total.
